Capcom pleased lots of gamers in February when it launched Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of the Two Worlds on consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, featuring some of the most popular fighters from the two companies.
Last week, the Japanese company confirmed that a bigger version of the game, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, is scheduled to arrive, with new fighters and an array of improvements made to its overall performance.
The game will appear later this year, and, as you can imagine, disappointed many owners of the standard Marvel vs. Capcom 3, who were hoping that the new content would appear as an expansion for their own titles.
This isn't possible, however, as the game's producer, Ryota Niitsuma, talked with Siliconera about this problem.
"Right now, we’re only thinking about releasing a disc version," Niitsuma said about the lack of a Ultimate DLC for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
When asked if this were a data problem, the producer explained that, "Given the development schedule, there wasn’t enough time to work out all of the details to release it as downloadable content, as well. Also, for the reason you mentioned, there is so much data in the game it was easier to go this route."
Many fans were no doubt hoping that Capcom would replicate the current offer for Super Street Fighter IV owners, who can get the Arcade Edition as a downloadable expansion, not just as a standalone game.
Sadly, as you can see, this isn't going to happen, so, until November, when Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is out, they'll need to start saving up cash in order to buy the $39.99 fighting game.
