LG Thrill 4G Now Available for Pre-Order at RadioShack

LG Thrill 4GAlthough AT&T has yet to unveil the LG Thrill 4G release date, major retailer Radio Shack has just announced that is already taking pre-order for the smartphone.
While Radio Shack states that the phone's is expected to hit shelves on August 7, this has yet to be confirmed by the carrier.

However, those who wish to reserve the LG Thrill 4G are required to purchase a $50 gift card. Furthermore, it appears that the handset will sell for $79.99 on new and upgraded two-year activations, with a data plan of $15/month or higher.

Customers who wish to purchase the LG Thrill 4G without activation will have to pay $549.99 upfront.
It looks like The Shack is one of the first major retailers that has started to take pre-orders for the LG Thrill 4G, but it is likely that others might soon follow.

Also known as LG Optimus 3D, AT&T's Thrill 4G is powered by Google's Android 2.2 (Froyo), which is upgradable to Gingerbread.

Unfortunately, the Korean handset manufacturer recently announced that the Optimus 3D won't receive its Gingerbread upgrade until October.

For AT&T users of the LG Thrill 4G, this means that the Android 2.3 Gingerbread software update will be deployed even later than October 2011.

The smartphone features LG's unique 3D user interface on top of the operating system, as well as accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, proximity sensor for auto turn-off and Gyro sensor.

Equipped with a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor clocked at 1GHz, LG Thrill 4G boasts a PowerVR SGX540 GPU (graphics processing unit).

More importantly, the phone fully supports AT&T 4G network and offers users data transfer speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps download and up to 5.76 Mbps upload.

LG Thrill 4G packs 8GB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

"The situation is not alarming. There was report of some damage of the NSG website following which cyber experts were called in to investigate into the matter.

"It is too early to say if there was any data theft. But the services have not been restored yet," a NSG spokesperson told Times of India.
